For those patients that require eyeglasses, we bring a wide variety of frames from which to choose. Appropriate measurements are taken to ensure the best visual function for the patient. Medi-Cal patients are completely covered for this benefit and also qualify for replacement glasses when they meet the qualifying guidelines, such as loss, breakage, or change in prescription. For patients with no insurance for glasses (Medicare rarely pays for eyewear), we contact the responsible party with a recommendation form that lists the various costs for frames and lenses through our private lab, pending their authorization. Medi-Cal fabrication of the glasses including engraving the patient's name on the side temple takes several weeks. (Expedited service available as requested.)
